P7 pupils from Lasswade Primary school were out with the service this week kayaking on the lagoons at Musselburgh.
A fantastic couple of days with lots of successful learning going on. The pupils should great resilience and teamwork to achieve a high level of paddling all in one day. Pupils used a variety of skills to ensure that the days were a success including;
Effective contributions – from all the pupils in preparing gear/kayaks and teamwork to get on and off the water and helping in observation and coaching tasks
Responsible citizens – working well together in and learning about access and responsibilities which included respect for other users
Confident individuals – by using exploration and discovery learning methods, working in pairs to improve paddling skills they developed fundamental and transferrable paddling skills. but also personal qualities leadership, trust, tolerance and resilience.
Successful learners were observed all day! These days highlighted just how paddlesports can develop learning in a variety of areas, movement skills, competencies and concepts (HWB 21-22a), cooperation and competition(HWB 23a) and evaluating and appreciating (HWB 24a).
Look forward to meeting you all again soon. Well done to pupils and staff who made these days so successful. See you on the water soon.
