Educational visits are a key element of the richness and quality of education provision we seek to achieve in Midlothian. These experiences help develop by creating greater independence and encourage the development of our young people. They also help us achieve many of the outcomes of the curriculum for excellence.
“the journey through education for any child in Scotland must include opportunities for a series of planned, quality outdoor learning experiences” Curriculum for Excellence through Outdoor Learning (2015 Education Scotland) |
There are set procedures to be followed for organising safe educational visits for Midlothian Establishments and an educational visit can be classed as ;
“any organised event where children/young people are taken away from their establishment and by being so, are removed from the normal day to day safety management arrangements that are in place at the establishment”
